Caught on Cam: Teacher Shops for Lingerie in Class

A Mira Mesa High School student used a mobile phone to record more than a minute of video showing his teacher viewing page after page of lingerie online.

A San Diego-area high school teacher has been suspended after a student recorded video of him browsing images of lingerie during class. Had the teacher's computer not been connected to a projector, no one would have known.

The math teacher and track coach, who NBC 7 is not identifying by name, is the subject of many snickers around Mira Mesa High School this week.

A student used a mobile phone to record more than a minute of video showing his teacher viewing page after page of lingerie online.

The secret was exposed by the connection between the teacher’s computer and the large projection monitor that the educator failed to disconnect before he began to browse.

San Diego Unified School District spokesperson Linda Zintz said, the teacher “was placed on leave while the incident is being looked into. Since this is a personnel issue, the district can't provide details at this time." The statement did not estimate how long the teacher would be on administrative leave.

Parents were notified Tuesday through an email from Principal Jeff Sabins. The letter, obtained by NBC 7, offers no explanation or details of the incident.

“If the kids can't be on their phones surfing the Internet then he shouldn't be doing that,” said Elaine Teodor whose daughter is a junior at the school.

The teacher, who is also a girls’ track coach according to his bio on the school’s website, has been suspended pending review of the facts.

Teodor said the embarrassment may be more than enough punishment.

“We're paying him to teach our kids and he needs to be focused on that but then again, he has to live with everyone making a judgment about what he is doing,” she added.

The student who recorded the Internet surfing session gave NBC 7 permission to use the video.

Other students who chimed in on this incident seem to sympathize with the teacher saying it was the wrong thing at the wrong tiime but not that big a deal.
