She's been a constant support throughout his illustrious golf career, now Amy Mickelson has been diagnosed with breast cancer and Phil is leaving the PGA tour to be by her side.
A spokesperson for the San Diego sports star broke the news after Phil pulled out of the Byron Nelson Championship and the Colonial.
Amy Mickelson is expected to begin treatment next week for what's being described as major surgery.
In addition to being one of the most visible wives on the golf course, she is also said to be the guiding force behind the couple's charitable foundation.
Each year they put on the "Smart Start" event that gives hundreds of San Diego kids back to school shopping sprees.
Many who know Amy are now praying for a quick recovery. "We hope that things are going to be okay with her- our thoughts and prayers are with her and the whole Mickelson family and we hope she comes out of this with flying colors like we think she will," said Tom Wilson, Century Club Executive Director.
Tiger Woods has also released a statement saying he and his wife are "deeply saddened to hear the news about Amy. Our thoughts and prayers are with her, Phil, the children and the entire Mickelson family."

The couple married in 1996 and have three children. Phil nearly lost his wife during the delivery of their third child.
