Men Sexually Assaulted Woman on Roadside: Deputies

Sheriff's deputies now say they don't belive a sexual assault happened in Alpine and are investigating whether it happened in another location.

Deputies were initially investigating a report of woman who said two men sexually assaulted her on the side of road in Alpine.

The victim told deputies that she was pulled over to the side of South Grade Road when two men in a pickup truck approached her, according to a sheriff's department news release.

Deputies released a news release Friday saying "the victim's recollection of the incident now reveals the assault did not happen in the community of Alpine on Monday, July 7th."

Investigators also say they're not focusing on just one attacker.

The news release said that the community has no reason to feel in danger in Alpine. The sheriff's department had a public forum Friday to address residents' concerns.
