McDonald's Recalls Millions of Shrek Glasses

A California lawmaker shined the light on a potentially dangerous item being sold at McDonald's, prompting the recall of 12 million Shrek themed drinking glasses.

These four glasses, sold at San Diego County locations, are decorated with characters from the latest "Shrek" movie and contain Cadmium.

Cadmium has been linked to certain cancers and can also cause bone softening and severe kidney problems.

Officials worry the cadmium could leach from the paint onto a child's hand.

They could then accidentally ingest it if they put that unwashed hand into their mouth.

McDonald’s is asking consumers to immediately stop using the glass out of an abundance of caution, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

CPSC was made aware of issues with this product through the Office of Congresswoman Jackie Speier from California.
