More than 200 Marines and sailors returned to Camp Pendleton Monday after a seven-month deployment to Afghanistan.
The 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment returned home to hugs and cheers Monday.
They were involved in counter-insurgency operations in Southwest Afghanistan.
Some of their missions included patrolling populated areas to prevent the Taliban and other insurgents from intimidating the local population.
