A Miramar-based Marine that died after being found unconscious on MCAS Miramar has been identified, according to base officials.
Cpl. Jerome Ventura, 23, was found unconscious at MCAS Miramar on Saturday. He was pronounced dead at Sharp Memorial Hospital.
“The cause of death is currently under investigation,” said Sgt. Sean McGinty.
Cpl. Ventura is an Aviation Supply Specialist with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 11, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
The Holtsville, N.Y. native enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2008.
