Manhunt Under Way for Sex Predator

Detectives ask for public's help in Lakeside

Wanted posters were handed out Wednesday by sheriff's detectives and volunteers pleading for the public's help to find a man whom they said sexually assaulted a woman at Lindo Lake Park in Lakeside.

When the victim left the park and got in her car on Oct. 7, the suspect was already in the vehicle, detectives said. The man forced her to drive to a remote location, where he sexually assaulted her.

The suspect may be a transient. He is in his 30s and weighs about 220 pounds. He has short dark hair with some gray on both sides. The last time he was seen he was wearing a light-colored shirt with gray Dickies shorts, detectives said.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect's arrest.
