Manhunt for Slain 21-Year-Old Woman's Killer

A manhunt was under way Sunday for the killer of a 21-year-old woman who was shot at birthday party in Encanto, police said.  A 26-year-old man was also wounded in the attack.

Marcella Peraza, 21, died about 6:45 a.m. Saturday at a hospital after the shooting in the 6800 block of Brooklyn Avenue, police said.

The party turned violent after several people turned up uninvited, according to police.  The suspect was told to leave, which he did. But he came back, this time armed with a rifle. He opened fire into the crowd, hitting Peraza and a 26-year-old man in the arm, police said.

The shooter was described as having short hair and was wearing an oversized white T-shirt. Witnesses told police the gunman had a rifle and was last seen running west. No getaway car was seen.
