Probation Officer Killed in Solo Rollover Crash in Jamul

A probation officer was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Jamul Sunday evening.

The driver, identified by California Highway Patrol as a 51-year-old San Diego man, was behind the wheel of a 2008 Acura.

The vehicle drifted off the road while traveling on Skyline Truck Trail east of Lawson Valley Road just before 6:30 p.m.

The Acura struck a dirt embankment.

The driver was rushed to Sharp Memorial Hospital where he later died, officials said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

CHP officials say it's not clear if the driver suffered a medical emergency prior to drifting off the road.

The driver was a probation officer, according to Cal Fire.

Several San Diego County Sheriff's Department vehicles were parked outside the hospital.
