A 67-year-old man who died last week after a fall from Sunset Cliffs has been identified as Gregory David Genochio, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Genochio, a San Diego resident, was stuck on Sunset Cliffs on July 5, and San Diego Lifeguards and San Diego Fire-Rescue Department engaged in a difficult rescue attempt.
About 40 minutes into the rescue operation, officials confirmed the man had died.
Witnesses reported seeing him standing on the edge of the cliff before falling to beach area. The medical examiner’s office concluded Genochio died from multiple blunt force injuries.
