A man tried to lure an 8-year-old boy into his vehicle in Rancho Penasquitos, San Diego Police warned Thursday.
At about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the man walked up to the child playing on the sidewalk of Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard.
Police say he tried to get the boy into his silver Toyota Corolla or Camry sedan, but the boy ran home to tell an adult.
As the man drove away, he punched his own driver's side mirror, causing it to break, according to investigators.
He is described as a light-skinned man in his 20s, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, black beanie and red pants.
