A 32-year-old man was stabbed to death in what police are calling a sudden and vicious attack.
Officers responded to the the 100 block of Wisconsin to what was perceived as a traffic collision Thursday around 3:45 pm and found an unconscious Joseph Prince face down on the street. A closer examination of the victim showed he had been stabbed at least once in the chest.
The Oceanside Fire Department attempted to save Prince's life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police Prince lived in Oceanside and was well known by his neighbors.
He was reportedly riding his bike near the beach jsut before the attack.
The limited suspect description is a white man in his 30s wearing jeans riding northbound away from the scene on a black beach cruiser.
"From 60 yards you should hear something," Nick Fogel who lives nearby told NBC7. “No sounds, no confrontation, no tires screeching or anything.”
Officers do not believe the attack was random.
