A fight over food between two transients quickly escalated Friday evening, sending one man to the hospital.
Police said two transients got into a physical fight over a peanut butter and jelly sandwich at 1350 Union St. around 6:30 p.m.
One of the men took out a pen and stabbed the other man in the head with it, according to investigators.
The suspect was taken into custody.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his head, police said.
