Man Stabbed After Telling Transient to Get a Job: PD

Two men were stabbed and one arrested in Ocean Beach after a man suggested a transient man should get a job, police said.

The incident happened Saturday at approximately 11:15 p.m. on the 5000 block of Newport Avenue.

A group of men left a bar and walked past another group that was gathered in the area, police said. One of the men leaving the bar made comments about them getting jobs.

Shortly after, an argument started and a 20-year-old Hispanic male suspect stabbed a 31-year-old male victim in the left cheek. The suspect also stabbed a 29-year-old male victim in the right upper torso.

The victims were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect fled the scene but was later taken into custody, and the knife he used recovered.
San Diego Police Western Division detectives are investigating.
