Man Stabbed In Neck After Leaving Church

Police say attacker was wanted on a parole violation

A man leaving a church in Encanto Sunday morning got into an argument on the sidewalk and ended up getting stabbed in the neck.

The unidentified victim suffered a two inch cut to his neck, but the injuries are not considered life threatening. The attack happened outside of a church on the 6000 block of Aikens St.

San Diego police say the suspect was found a few blocks away.

"Witnesses directed officers to a possible suspect who was running northbound a few blocks away on 65th street," Sgt. Steve Shaw said. "When he was contacted, he did throw down a knife and was taken into custody."

The unnamed suspect was arrested on a parole violation, and is now facing possible assault charges. The motive for the attack is not known.
