Man Sentenced for Having Sex with Escondido Girl

Christopher Bradley Nutt, 24, pleaded guilty to having sex with a person less than 16 years old

A man who pleaded guilty to having sex with a 12-year-old Escondido girl was sentenced in court on Thursday.

According to authorities, 24-year-old Christopher Bradley Nutt was sentenced to 270 days in jail and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.

On May 27, Nutt was taken into custody in Escondido after police found him with a 12-year-old girl who had been reported missing by her parents.

After interviewing the girl’s friends and checking her cell phone records, police were able to locate the juvenile in the bedroom of a house in the 1000 block of Nightingale Place. She was found with Nutt inside the bedroom and was eventually reunited with her family.

Police said the two had met through an online social network and had been corresponding for about a month before Nutt was arrested.

At an earlier hearing, Nutt pleaded guilty to felony charges of having sex with a person less than 16 years old and a misdemeanor charge of using child pornography.

On top of jail time and registering as a lifetime sex offender, Deputy District Attorney Patricia Lavermicocca said Nutt will be on probation for at least five years. During that time, his internet usage will be closely monitored by authorities and he will have to attend sex offender classes.

Nutt is currently behind bars at the Vista Detention Facility.
