A conscious and breathing man pulled from the water at Border Field State Park has been taken to the hospital.
Border Patrol Agents and San Diego Fire-Rescue (SDFD) officials responded to the state park at approximately 6:17 p.m. Thursday.
A 36-year-old man, possibly suffering from hypothermia, was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest, officials said.
He still remains in the hospital, but is expected to survive. He is being accompanied by Border Patrol Agents there.
Once he is released he will be taken to the Border Patrol station, where officials will investigate if he has a criminal record.
According to Border Patrol Agent Eduardo Olmos, agents observed the man swimming to the shore of Border Field State Park, approximately 40 to 60 yards north of the international boundary. When being questioned, the man said he had been swimming for about 30 minutes.
Agents believe that the man was trying to avoid being detained.

Border Patrol officials contacted Mexican authorities who confirmed that there were no reports of anyone missing with the man's description.
