Man Pulled From Water Near Oceanside Pier

Lifeguards pulled a man from the water on the north side of the Oceanside Municipal Pier on Christmas Day, officials told the North County Times.

At about 1 p.m., Lifeguard Sgt. Brandon Stone and Lifeguard Ryan Deluna found a man in his 30s bobbing in the ocean on the north side of the pier between a bait shop and Ruby’s Diner, officials said.

Both lifeguards jumped into the ocean, secured a rescue buoy around the unidentified man, brought him to shore, and turned him over to Oceanside paramedics, officials said.

No information was available about the condition of the victim, who was taken to Tri-City Medical Center.

Officials said they do not know why the man was in the water.
