In El Cajon, a man opened fire on police officers and took a woman hostage inside an apartment on Christmas Eve, police said.
El Cajon Police Officers were called to the Parkside Apartments on Estes Street around 10:15 p.m. Thursday.
When officers arrived, a man opened fire on them from inside the apartments.
The man then told officers he was holding someone hostage.
Officers warned nearby residents to take shelter inside their homes.
No one was injured and the man was arrested several hours later.
