Man Falls 40-Feet Off Cliff in Oceanside

Firefighters used a helicopter to pull the victim from a ravine

Firefighters rescued a man in Oceanside on Wednesday evening after he fell 40-feet off a cliff.

According to the Oceanside Fire Department, the rescue happened behind a Kohl’s and Wal-Mart shopping center at 3410 Marron Rd. just minutes before 7 p.m.

Firefighters said three people were hiking in a construction area that used to be a rock quarry when one of them fell into the creek bed below a cliff.

Due to the steep terrain, firefighters had to call for backup from a rescue helicopter. They hoisted the victim out of the ravine and into the helicopter, and then transported him to a hospital.

No information on the victim’s condition has been released.
