Man Convicted of Sexually Assaulting Child

Ricardo Pedro Borbon faces life in prison

A man found guilty of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl in Escondido three years ago was convicted Tuesday in a San Diego courtroom.

Ricardo Pedro Borbon, 73,  was found guilty of three felony counts of committing a lewd act on a child, reports our media partner the North County Times.

In August of 2009, a girl told police that a man assaulted her in an auto shop in the 1000 block of West Mission Ave.

A state parole officer called Escondido Police the next day to report a registered sex offender had cut off his GPS monitor. The offender matched the girl's description.

Borbon was also found guilty of other sex crimes in 2000, the NCT reports.

He was extradited from Mexico last September and now faces life in prison.
