Man Attempts to Lure La Mesa Teen: Cops

A man in a small, beat-up truck attempted to lure a La Mesa girl Friday morning on her way to school, police said.

The 16-year-old girl was walking westbound on University Ave. in La Mesa at about 8 a.m. when the suspect drove up, according to the La Mesa Police Department.

The suspect got out of his car and began following the girl. He said to her, "Hey, get in my car."

The girl ran home and called police. The suspect fled in his car and was last seen driving eastbound on University Ave.

He is still at-large. The victim described him as a man in his 30s or 40s, unshaven and wearing a white t-shirt. He was driving a small, "beat-up" truck, she said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the La Mesa Police Department.
