Man Accused of Abduction Attempt Arrested

A Carlsbad man is in custody, accused of trying to snatch a girl off a street this spring.

Police said Thursday that George McKesson is suspected of trying to abduct a Lincoln Middle Schooler who was walking on Oceanside Boulevard near McDonald Street in Oceanside on May 19.

Police said a man drove up to the girl at about 3 p.m. on that day and demanded she get in his car. The subject drove onto the sidewalk/curb and blocked the student's path as she was walking, police said. The student said she told the man, "Get away," and ran away.

Investigators said McKesson, a civilian employee at Camp Pendleton, was identified from a photo lineup last week and was taken into custody on Thursday. According to police, he has been booked into the Vista Detention Facility for attempted kidnapping, possession of methamphetamine, stalking and committing a felony while out on bail.

Investigators said McKesson was out on bail for felony drug charges when the attempted kidnapping occurred.
