For the past three weekends some San Diego college students have been digging through dumpsters and going through empty lots looking for junk.
Wednesday night engineering students made up of 44 teams went through the piles of trash found during the last month.
They now have 24-hours to use the junk to build a car. On Friday, those cars will race in a junkyard derby and everyone is invited.
The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the UCSD campus. You can also expect some pretty wacky costumes.
