Machete-Wielding Man Robs Subway: SDPD

A man wielding a machete robbed a Subway in Rolando, San Diego Police Department (SDPD) officers said.

The robbery happened at approximately 3:57 p.m. Saturday on the 4600 block of College Avenue when the suspect -- armed with a machete -- walked into the Subway and got behind the counter, police said.

The man demanded money from employees. The employees put an unknown amount of money in the camouflage backpack he was wearing, police said.

The suspect was last seen leaving the store in a newer model silver Infinity G35, police said. He drove southbound on the 4500 block of College Avenue.

Police described the suspect as a man in his 20s to 30s approximately 5 feet 10 inches and 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask, a camouflage backpack, a red hoodie, black jeans and white gloves.

The robbery is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the San Diego Police Department.
