MTS Ramps Up Service for Holiday Weekend

MTS San Diego is ramping up service and offering promotional rides over the Fourth of July weekend.

Certain MTS trolley lines are extending service during the Padres-Yankees games from Friday to Sunday and for San Diego’s Big Bay Boom on the Fourth of July.

  • Before the Padres games, all three trolley lines will depart every 15 minutes, with Green Line service increasing to every 7.5 minutes between Qualcomm Stadium and Petco Park.
  • After the games, trains will take off from the Imperial Transit Center every 15 minutes, with extra trains accommodating the larger crowds.

In addition, there will be a number of bus routes from downtown to the beaches over the long weekend.

Riders heading to Coronado or Imperial Beach from downtown San Diego are encouraged to take Route 901 and also use Route 904 (the free Coronado shuttle) on Coronado Island.

MTS officials also highlighted Route 8 and 30 which runs every 15 minutes from Old Town to Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and La Jolla. A full list of routes is here.

On the Fourth of July, one friend will be allowed to ride free with a paying passenger on any bus or trolley.
