Lowriders Join National City Police in Thanksgiving Dinner Deliveries

One woman even called the delivery very “VIP” with the lowriders in tow

Local "lowrider" car enthusiasts joined National City police in an annual caravan to deliver Thanksgiving dinner fixings to needy South Bay families.

The National City Police Department works with the National School District to identify and select 20 families eligible for the special delivery of Thanksgiving dinner fixings.

IGA along with the lowrider car owners donate the two bags of food supplies that included everything from the turkey to the stuffing.

The department has been delivering dinners for more than 10 years.

The Rodriguez family was very grateful to receive the donation Tuesday.

They called it a blessing, saying times are hard for their family.

“It’s somebody looking out for us,” one member of the family told NBC 7.

Families said they so special to get their dinners delivered by a whole group of officers and neighbors.

One woman even called the delivery very “VIP” with the lowriders in tow.
