Those seeking decent employment in San Diego should probably focus on high-tech

Those seeking decent employment in San Diego should probably focus on high-tech, according to a report on Hot Careers 2014 from UC San Diegoโ€™s Extension.

The sixth annual report found that nine of the 10 careers that made the list are technology and business-oriented. Only elementary school teachers were outside those categories.

The top 10 hottest careers in the report are computer systems analysts; market research analyst and marketing specialists; accountants and auditors; management analysts; teachers; cost estimators; financial analysts; database administrators; computer programmers; and meeting, convention and event planners.

The overarching theme that emerged from Extensionโ€™s research of the local job landscape was that technology continues to drive job creation, with many of the growing career paths tied to innovations, such as cloud computing to the need for easily accessible data in such fields as health care and biotech, the report found.
