Local Marine Wins ‘Price is Right'

LCpl wins trip to France and British Columbia

The price was indeed right for a local Marine and Sweetwater High School alum.

LCpl Mike Relucio reconnected with his former classmates from the San Diego high school at an October reunion. At the reunion, they invited him to be part of the audience of The Price is Right.

Not expecting the trip to National City to be anything more than a fun time, he joined his friends.

“I never thought I would be picked to participate, let alone win," he said in a statement.

"I tried to be motivated and loud, because those are the people that usually get chosen, but I wasn’t even the loudest one.”

After being selected and passing through the various rounds, Relucio made it to the Showcase Showdown. In this final round, he won a seven day trip to the South of France and British Columbia for the 2012 World Figure Skating Championships.

“Even if I hadn’t won, the coolest part was definitely just being on the same show I used to watch with my grandparents as a kid,” said Relucio.

Relucio works as a fitness coordinator for the High Intensity Tactical Training Center aboard Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar.  He has a wife and a daughter and plans on bringing them along with him to France and British Columbia.

The show in which Relicio won will be aired Jan. 27.
