Woman Found Unconscious in Lincoln Park Canyon

A young woman found unconscious in a Lincoln Park canyon may have been the victim of sexual assault.

San Diego police discovered the female teenager in a canyon near 49th and Nogal Streets at approximately 11 p.m. Monday.

The canyon appears to be heavily traveled with little encampments, according to investigators.

The woman, described by emergency crews as in her mid-20s, was transported to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest. She was accompanied by a sex crimes detective.

The juvenile victim was drinking with friends on Monday afternoon, said Lt. Anastasia Smith with SDPD.

“At this time, we don't know if there was an actual crime,” said SDPD Lt. Paul Rorrison.

Police canvassed the area looking for people spotted running from the canyon. They also interviewed neighbors and witnesses.
