Lemonade Restaurant Plans Two San Diego Openings

Los Angeles-based restaurant operator Lemonade, which serves seasonal California comfort food in a colorful cafeteria setting, plans two August openings in San Diego.

Company officials said an Aug. 3 opening is expected at 3958 Fifth Ave. in Hillcrest, with a mid-August debut planned at the Westfield UTC mall on La Jolla Village Drive in University Towne Center.

The fast-casual chain was launched in 2008 by executive chef and founder Alan Jackson, with chief operating officer Ian Olsen, and currently has 15 locations. A company statement said the restaurants let customers grab a tray and select from a choice of prepared meat and vegetable dishes, with an emphasis on fresh and healthy foods.

The menu includes freshly baked flatbreads, salads, sandwiches, soups, desserts and various flavors of lemonade.
