A Lemon Grove man was detained after deputies found him throwing bullets into a large fire in a residential neighborhood.

The man's wife called 911 around 11 p.m. Monday to report her husband’s bizarre behavior.

When deputies arrived at the home on Central Avenue, they found the man throwing bullets into a large fire that was overtaking a BBQ in the backyard.

The bullets were exploding and the grill was sitting just a few feet from the home officials said.

According to deputies the man refused to come out so they set-up a perimeter and evacuated several residents for a short time.

The man was eventually taken into custody.

Officials say the man may suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and will undergo a mental health evaluation.
