LGBT Visitor's Center Opens in Hillcrest

A new LGBT visitor’s center opened in Hillcrest last week. The center, inside Creative Crossroads a local arts gift store, is in the 500 block of University Avenue.

The visitor center will provide information about LGBT friendly art venues, restaurants, casinos and other destinations. The store itself has art, jewelry, home décor and gifts.

San Diego is ranked 14th for top destinations for LGBT travelers according to the center’s operators. This is down from San Diego's original rank at eighth.  LGBT individuals travel nine times more than straight travelers, according to the center.

“Our buying power oftentimes consists of two adults, no children, we own our homes,” Eddie Reynoso founder of the center told NBC 7. We tend to eat out six times more than our straight counterparts. We vacation about nine times more often than our straight counterparts. So we have all this expendable income. So it’s only natural that San Diego, being one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The center is only the fourth LGBT visitor’s center to open in the nation. It will be open 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
