LAFC Co-Owner Will Ferrell Announces Former Aztec Soccer Player Expecting Baby With Wife

Comedian Will Ferrell had a special message for former Aztec and current MLS player Steven Beitashour.

“Congratulations Karlie and Steven. Can’t wait to meet the little guy,” Ferrell announced the news from Beitashour’s Instagram account. “Just remember Will is an excellent name.”

Beitashour, 31, plays for the Los Angles Football Club, of which Ferrell is a co-owner.

Beitashour was born in San Jose, a second-generation Iranian-American as his parents immigrated from Iran in the 1960s.

He played four years of soccer at San Diego State University after receiving a scholarship and redshirting his first season.

In his last year at SDSU he earned an all-Pac-10 honorable mention. He graduated from SDSU in 2009.

In 2010, he was drafted by the San Jose Earthquakes. He also played for the Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club and the Toronto Football Club before signing with LAFC earlier this year.

2018 is the LAFC’s inaugural season.
