TV Sports Anchor Back on Air After Shooting

Kyle Kraska was shot six times while backing out of his driveway at his Scripps Ranch home on Feb. 10

San Diego television sports anchor Kyle Kraska is set to be back on air Wednesday just one month after being gunned down and seriously injured in the driveway of his Scripps Ranch home.

Kraska is expected to return to work at CBS News 8, anchoring the station’s evening newscasts. He confirmed the news via Twitter earlier in the day:

Kraska had previously returned to his workplace for a visit in late February, just a week after being released from the hospital. He appeared on air with a bandaged left hand, the only visible sign of his wounds sustained in the shooting.

Kraska was shot six times – including once in the torso and once in the abdomen – on Feb. 10 as he was backing his car out of his driveway at his home on Avonette Court. He spent four days in a medically-induced coma.

Mike Montana, 54, has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges in the shooting. His preliminary trial is set for April 30. Montana faces at least 37 years to life in prison if convicted.

The District Attorney's office said a business dispute was the motive behind the shooting.
