Karate Instructor Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Charges

An East County man admits to having more than 600 computer images of minors, including a sexually explicit video, federal officials said.

William J. Hazlitt, 27, faces up to 10 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine and may have to register as a sex offender when he is sentenced in January.  Hazlitt was a karate instructor at HT Martial Arts, located at 1520 Main St. in Ramona, which he co-owned.

U.S. Attorney Alessandra P. Serano said authorities began investigating Hazlitt after an FBI special agent in Richmond, Va., began looking into LimeWire, a peer-to-peer file sharing.  The agent said Hazlitt's name popped up for downloading hundreds of images.
