Two young men suspected in a string of armed street robberies were in custody Sunday.
Israel Onteros and Kelly Ayala, both 18, were arrested and booked on suspicion of multiple counts of armed robbery, San Diego police Lt. David Jennings said.
The holdup that led to their arrest occurred in the 1200 block of South 28th Street in Barrio Logan about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Jennings said.
Sgt. Denny Kremer spotted two suspects fitting descriptions of the robbers, he said. The suspects ran, but police, with the help of dogs, tracked them down and arrested them, he said.
Some property taken in the holdup and the gun were recovered, Jennings said.
