Jessica Sanchez Loses `American Idol'

Georgia's Phillip Phillips beat the Chula Vista teenager for the win Wednesday night

American Idol finalist Jessica Sanchez didn’t win the big title Wednesday night, but local fans still turned out to show their support for the Chula Vista teen.

Sanchez’s fans gathered at Eastlake Tavern & Bowl Wednesday night to watch the season finale of American Idol, hoping the hometown teen would bring home the win.

Ultimately, Georgia’s Phillip Phillips beat out Sanchez for the season 11 American Idol crown.

Disappointment was felt by all at the viewing party in Chula Vista after the results were announced.

“Jessica should have won it,” said one fan.

“Heartbreaking. Very heartbreaking,” lamented another Sanchez supporter.

Despite the Idol loss, fans of Sanchez are looking on the bright side, saying the teenager doesn’t need the title because, in their eyes, she’s already a star.

“With her talent, such a gift, you know she’s still our idol,” said one fan at Eastlake Tavern & Bowl.

“She is going to be successful no matter what she does, whether she was on `American Idol’ anyways she would have went far,” said another spectator.
