Future of North Park John Lennon Mural Unclear

Some neighbors were concerned after seeing construction in the area

Neighbors in North Park are worried that a mural of music legend, John Lennon, will be removed.

The mural on the side of a building on University Avenue shows John Lennon's face with his iconic circle-shaped glasses. The word "Imagine" on the side of the portrait is a tribute to Lennon's famous song.

When some saw construction happening on the building, they raised concerns on social media.

Neighbor Steve Kleinstuber posted to Facebook saying, "Anyone ever notice the beautiful John Lennon Mural on the side of [a] building on University Avenue? They are remodeling that building...I would hate to see that mural disappear."

Angie Piro Landsberg added that the mural is a "hidden gem."

NBC 7 reached out to construction workers on the project Thursday. They said the mural would remain in place.

Construction is scheduled for three walls of the building, not including the one with the musician's portrait.
