Trump Project Fails, Investors Out Millions

The project was controversial from the start: An ocean front luxury condo project in Rosarito Beach, apparently backed by Donald Trump. Three towers were scheduled to be built in March 2007. The project never got off the ground.

Now the project has collapsed, leaving hopeful condo buyers out of $32.2 million in deposits.

In December 2006, 118-units sold for $122 million the day they went on sale at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego.

Now investors have been told their money has been spent and they won't get a penny back. The project's collapse comes as Trump's casino company filed for bankruptcy.

Environmentalists were against the plan from the start, claiming the condos were being built near a gully that spewed out 30-million gallons of sewage a day.
