Interstate 5, State Route 52 Connectors to Close for Construction

The temporary closures begin Monday night, according to Caltrans

Paving and construction work will temporarily shut down some connector ramps on Interstate 5 and State Route 52 for four nights next week, according to Caltrans.

The closures begin Monday, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and continue during the same time period Oct. 18 through Oct. 20.

Caltrans said drivers can expect closures at the following locations along I-5 and SR-52 during those nights:

Monday, Oct. 17:

  • Westbound SR-52 connector ramps to northbound and southbound I-5
  • La Jolla Parkway on-ramp to southbound I-5
  • On-ramps at Genesee Avenue and Regents Road to westbound SR-52

Tuesday, Oct. 18:

  • La Jolla Parkway on-ramp to southbound SR-52
  • Southbound I-5 connector ramp to southbound SR-52

Wednesday, Oct. 19:

  • Northbound I-5 connector ramp to eastbound SR-52
  • Westbound SR-52 off-ramp La Jolla Parkway
  • Northbound I-5 off-ramp to La Jolla Parkway

Thursday, Oct. 20:

  • La Jolla Parkway on-ramp to southbound I-5
  • La Jolla Parkway on-ramp to eastbound SR-52

Caltrans said the construction project will include the replacement of pavement on the connectors with 1,000 tons of more flexible, durable asphalt designed to reduce sound.

Caltrans urges motorcyclists to drive slow though highway work zones. Detour signs will be posted to guide drivers to alternate routes.
