Injured Man Rescued from Abandoned House

Deputies in Ramona called to abandoned house Monday evening

An injured man found unresponsive in an abandoned Ramona house was airlifted to the hospital Monday evening.

Deputies received a call at about 5:30 p.m. Monday that a man was in need of medical attention in a house near the 100 block of 12th Street, according to a report from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

When they arrived, the man was lying on his back and unresponsive. Cal Fire paramedics attempted to revive him, but could not determine the nature and extent of his condition.

An air ambulance lifted the man to the hospital. Later, doctors said he sustained a one-inch head laceration, a right orbital fracture and a possible spinal fracture.

Witnesses later said they saw a 19-year-old man punch and kick the unconscious man in the head and face. He was taken into custody and faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

Authorities said his injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.
