Imperial Beach Store Clerk Tied Up, Robbed

Two men robbed an Imperial Beach convenience store overnight and tied up the clerk.

A customer found the terrified clerk bound inside the store and called for help.

The armed robbery happened at the Beach Side Station convenience store on State Route 75.

A customer came into the store just before 11 p.m. Tuesday and found the frightened clerk bound in the back office of this store and called 911.

The clerk told detectives two dark-skinned men came into the store with their faces covered demanding the he open the cash register.

One suspect was armed with a black handgun.

The suspects forced the clerk into the back office of the business and made him open the safe.

They took cash and then tied him up and left him there.

The suspects got away with cash from the register and safe and took off running.

Deputies searched the area but were unable to find the two men.

Those two suspects are described as wearing bandannas over their faces and "hoodie" type jackets covering their heads.

They both were wearing baseball hats, appeared to be in their 20's, approximately 5'7" to 5'8" tall, weighing about 160 to 170 pounds.

The two masked men were last seen fleeing the store, southbound on 7th Street.
