Dog Bite Victim Rushed to Hospital: Deputies

Emergency crews were called to the 1000-block of Georgia Street around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday

A person walking down the street in Imperial Beach was bitten by a dog according to San Diego County sheriff’s deputies.

Emergency crews were called to the 1000-block of Georgia Street around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday to provide medical care for a dog bite victim. The person was transported to a nearby hospital, officials said.

Deputies told NBC 7 the owner of the animal, described by officials as a pit bull, had been located.

However, an NBC 7 news crew learned the dog bite victim was injured by his own dog - not by the pit bull.

When the pit bull approached the victim's dog, the victim scooped his dog into his arms. That's when he was bitten by his own dog NBC 7 has learned.

Officials said it turns out the pit bull's owner was wanted for a probation violation.
