Imperial Beach is closed because of a sewage spill at Playas De Tijuana, according to the department of environmental health.
More than 100,000 gallons of sewage a day is pouring out of a collapsed pipe that is flowing into the ocean, five miles from the tip of the South Bay beach.
Officials closed Imperial Beach yesterday for contaminated water at the shoreline, which appeared murky and dark.
The beach will remain closed until lifeguards deem conditions favorable and water quality is clearer.
