Hydrant Shoots Water in Air at Lindbergh Field

A fire hydrant turned into a huge geyser Monday morning, sending water flying high in the air near Lindbergh Field.

Video captured by NBC 7’s helicopter showed several cars getting soaked by the sudden geyser.

Police said it was caused by someone hitting a fire hydrant in a parking lot on Pacific Highway, just north of Laurel Street.

No injuries were reported and crews had the water shut off about 10 minutes later, at 11:40 a.m.

Water board officials said no one's water service was impacted by the incident.
