Local Heroes Stay Classy

Volunteers keep local firefighters hydrated

StayClassy.org hosted an event to celebrate local firefighters.

Firefighters are the true heroes that risk their lives every day to help us.

To honor them (and get ready for Fire Run 2009 on August 23), StayClassy.org volunteers handed out Vitamin Water to local fire stations for "Fire Station Appreciation".

Stay Classy.org and Vitamin Water partnered together to bring free drinks to several stations around San Diego. Volunteers visited stations downtown, in Pacific Beach and La Jolla to hand out the water and even play a little "spin the bottle" to win some fun prizes.

The firefighters were all grateful for the community support and the volunteers had fun too.

"We feel great about someone in the community taking the time to say thank you for what we do," said Randy Ballard, San Diego Fire Battalion Chief .

"Firefighters do so many things to help our community, so this is just one way to give back," said Shanna Stuhmer with StayClassy.org.

Fire Run is an annual 4-mile run/walk that raises money for the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation, which supports local firefighters, lifeguards and paramedics.
