Hometown Hero Junior Seau Mourned by Community

Fans, friends and the entire San Diego community is in shock after losing one of our most beloved hometown heroes.

Former Charger Junior Seau was found unconscious in his Oceanside home Wednesday. Oceanside police say Seau shot himself.

Former Charger and NBC 7 Sports Director Jim Laslavic said he could not believe Seau was gone.

“He has done so much good for so many people,” said Laslavic. “Junior touched a lot of lives.”

Chargers owner Dean Spanos, upon leaving Murphy Canyon training facility, told NBCSanDiego he was "stunned, shocked" and sent his condolences to Seau’s family.
