Open Window Invited Apt Intruder: Cops

A San Diego woman was awakened by a man exposing himself in her home Monday morning.

The victim called police around 4 a.m. reporting that she woke up to find a man in her bedroom. He had exposed himself and was masturbating according to the woman.

When the woman began screaming, the man left the home through an open window.

Officers responded to the apartment complex on First Avenue in Hillcrest.

The woman had opened her window to keep cool from the heat.

"It's normal to want to open your windows, especially during heat waves like we have been, but we also want to remind people to be cautious,” said Lt. Darryl Hoover with San Diego police.

“We live in a society where things do happen. And it's unfortunate and it can be very disturbing for those folks. So we want to remind folks to be cautious about leaving windows open."

The suspect was described as in his 30s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with blonde hair, a muscular build, and eye glasses.
