A hiker was pronounced dead on an east county trail Saturday afternoon after collapsing from heat exhaustion.
Emergency personnel were called to Three Sisters Falls south of Julian at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday, according to Cal Fire.
The hiker had collapsed from heat exhaustion. When medics arrived, the victim was in CPR status. A short time later, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
Temperatures in the East County were in the upper 80s Saturday afternoon. The trail is a popular destination for hikers, but has proven to be dangerous when temperatures climb.
